Multiple voices can make education more effectiveIn 2022, Jennifer Gordon joined forces with two other consulting firms to create the League of Extraordinary Entomologists (aka LEE or the League). Together with Dr. Janet Kintz-Early from JAK Consulting Services and Chelle Hartzer, B.C.E. from 360 Pest and Food Safety Consulting the League has created THE LEE SCHOOL OF PEST CONTROL.
The LEE School of Pest Control was founded with the mission to make science-based education for the pest control industry more accessible. The last ~2.5 years saw educators across the country performing training and continuing education for the pest control industry through webinars and other remote methods. These tools were employed to overcome the in-person limitations of “shelter in place”; however, they also removed pre-existing barriers experienced by some technicians (e.g., people with limited access to training centers or reliable personal transportation). Providing remote courses makes educational materials accessible to a wider proportion of technicians in the US and elevates the professionalism of the industry as a whole.
